What to Expect

Your initial naturopathic consult will take approximately 90 minutes, and is used for a detailed health history review, discussion of your present health concerns, your personal health goals, as well as any relevant physical examination and test reviews. Lab testing may be recommended at this stage.

After this visit, Autumn will prepare a written treatment plan, which may include natural prescriptions, lifestyle and diet changes, and recommended treatments. Autumn may take Iris Photos for your file.

Follow-up visits are recommended at 4-6 weekly intervals, are up to 60 minutes in length, and are used to implement appropriate naturopathic treatment modalities, monitor progress, and re-assess the treatment plan.

Shiatsu Treatments are either 60 or 90 minutes long. Autumn will ask a few initial questions and be available for anything you would like to share or ask before the session. The session itself is generally performed in silence, although some verbal check-in will take place throughout the session if needed. Autumn may make some suggestions or recommendations after your session if required.

Iris Photo appointments are 15mins only to take the Iris Images. There is no consultation included at that time, unless you have booked the Iridology Consultation.

What to Bring to an Appointment

Bring to your naturopathic consultation:

  • Please complete your Health Questionnaire prior to the appointment (this will take ??? time and will allow more time in the consult to focus on other questions
  • Recent Blood tests or other test results (you can ask your GP for a copy if you do not already have these)
  • Your medications and supplements you take – or a list of these

Bring to your shiatsu treatment:

  • Clean socks and comfortable clothes
  • A small towel for your head (optional, these are provided, but if you would like your own, feel free to bring one)
Health Insurance & ACC

We are not registered for ACC treatments.

Some clients have had success with claiming naturopathic consultation and alternative therapies through their private health insurance.

You will need to check with your insurer if you are covered and provide any paperwork that may need signing at your appointment.

Your Other Medical Professionals

It is important that you continue to visit your GP and other medical specialists you trust.

When working with a natural health practitioner, it is important that both are aware of the treatment you are receiving as well as any medications, herbs or natural supplements you are taking.

Autumn is trained in herb/drug interactions and can help assure that any herbs or supplements you take are compatible with your medications.

Is Naturopathic Medicine Scientific?

There is an enormous body of evidence supporting naturopathic medicine, and it’s quickly becoming a common, mainstream healthcare choice.

The main difference between naturopathic medicine and conventional medicine is the desire to find the root cause of ill health and imbalance in your individual biochemistry. It just is not enough for most of us to treat symptoms.

Autumn's Training

Trained by leading herbalists and iridologists in Germany, at the “Institute of Phytotherapy” (IfP) in Berlin, Autumn completed her 3-year training in 2007. After the statutory exams, she graduated as a naturopath in 2008.

Autumn’s studies as a Naturopath and Medical Herbalist were focused on Iridology, Phytotherapy (medical herbalism), Chinese medicine, basic homeopathy, and complementary therapies, including bodywork.

During this training, Autumn came into contact with Shiatsu and found this form of bodywork to provide a welcome balance within the busy, mental activities of study. Autumn then began her three-year Shiatsu training alongside her Naturopathy studies.

Autumn regularly partakes in continued education, both in herbal medicine and shiatsu. She is an active member of the New Zealand Association of Medical Herbalists (NZAMH) and the Shiatsu Association of Aotearoa (New Zealand) (SPAANZ).

Herbal Teas

Besides making individual tea blends for her clients, Autumn is also the creator and formulator of Herbal Potential Teas, a range of herbal medicinal infusions for everyday people like us.

Herbal Potential was founded in 2010 and continues as a small family business. The teas are hand-crafted and hand-packaged here in the Bay of Plenty.

Shiatsu Bodywork Academy

In 2020, Autumn founded Shiatsu Bodywork Academy, where she is the primary teacher of Shiatsu, for both introductory courses, weekend retreats, and Shiatsu Training.

As well as beginners courses, Shiatsu Bodywork Academy offers a one-year Certificate in Shiatsu and the full 3-year Diploma in Shiatsu Therapy.
